The competition "Le Monument préféré des Français" (The French people's favorite monument) returned to France 3 just a few days before the 40th European Heritage Days. The"Monument préféré des Français" made its comeback on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 on France 3, revealing the winner of this new edition and the complete ranking. Remember that in 2022, the famous France 3 TV show hosted byStéphane Bern namedthe Gare Maritime Transatlantique and the Redoutable in Cherbourg "France's Favorite Monument". The site thus succeeded Place Stanislas in Nancy, the overall winner in 2021.

This year, the famous TV program made its return just a few days before the 40th European Heritage Days. Once again, the show took viewers on a wonderful tour of France's cultural, architectural and historical heritage, led by Stéphane Bern. For this 2023 edition of"France's Favorite Monument", 14 sites were in the running.

In the Paris region, Internet users voted for the sublime Bibliothèque Nationale de France site Richelieu in Paris. This fascinating historic library, located in the capital's 2nd arrondissement and home to exceptional collections, was chosen to represent the Ile-de-France region against 13 other monuments scattered across France.

So which site has been named"Monument préféré des Français 2023" (French Favourite Monument 2023), and which monument will represent the Ile-de-France region? This year, the Château Fort de Sedan, located in the Grand Est region of France, won all the votes and took first place. TheAbbaye de Cluny in the Bourgogne Franche-Comté region took second place, followed by the Domaine de Chaalis in the Hauts-de-France region. The Bibliothèque nationale de France site Richelieu in Paris came 12th.
