The Michelin Guide France 2020: the new starred chefs in Paris and Île de France

Expected like the Messiah by many chefs and restaurateurs, the results of the Michelin Guide France 2020 have been released this Monday January 27, 2020 bringing its share of happiness and smiles to 18 restaurants in Paris.

Genuine tradition in the world of French gastronomy, The Michelin Guide France, out from January 31, 2020, released its results 2020 this Monday January 27 for a press conference held at Paris Pavillon Gabriel. The guide includes 628 starred restaurants this year.

In Paris, the Guide Michelin 2020 decided to award 13 restaurants with one star:

  • Sylvain SENDRA - Fleur de Pavé, 75002
  • Marc FAVIER - Marcore, 75002
  • Enzo SCARAMUZZINO - Anne, 75003
  • Alain PEGOURET - Le Sergent Recruteur, 75004
  • Eric TROCHON - Solstice, 75005
  • Frédéric ANTON & Kevin GARCIA - Le Jules Verne, 75007
  • Yannick ALLENO - Pavyllon, 75008
  • Quentin GIROUD - Aspic, 75009
  • Anne LEGRAND et Clio MODAFARRI - L’Innocence, 75009
  • Robert COMPAGNON - Le Rigmarole, 75011
  • Léo BESNARD - L’Oiseau Blanc, 75016
  • Jacques FAUSSAT - Jacques Faussat, 75017
  • Kelly RANGAMA - Faham by Kelly Rangama, 75017

This year, in terms of beautiful awards, we congratulate Stéphanie Le Quellec, gourmet restaurant La Scène chef at Prince de Galles in Paris who gets a second star. Congrats to Thierry Karakachian and Lionel Bravard for their second star for L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon EtoileYannick Alléno and Yasunar Okazaki get two stars for L’Abysse Pavillon Ledoyen, in Paris 8th arrondissement. Second star for Le Taillevent too, ran by David Bizet and Antoine Petrus in Paris 8th arrondissement.

New 2-Michelin-star chefs in France:

  • L’ABYSSE PAVILLON LEDOYEN - Yannick ALLENO and Yasunar OKAZAKI and Sarah FRESCO in Paris
  • LE TAILLEVENT - David BIZET and Antoine PETRUS in Paris
  • LA SCÈNE - Stéphanie LE QUELLEC and Cedric MAUPOINT in Paris
  • LA VOILE - Éric CANINO and Nicolas LOPEZ in Ramatuelle
  • MAISON SAINT-CRESCENT - Lionel GIRAUD and Aurélie IHAMOUINE in Narbonne
  • PY-R - Pierre LAMBINON and Xavier SAFFON-PERES in Toulouse
  • RACINE - Kazuyuki TANAKA and Marine TANAKA in Reims
  • LA TABLE DE L’ALPAGA - Anthony BISQUERRA and Louis-Marie ROBERT in Megève
  • SARKARA - Sébastien VAUXION and Anne-Sophie BERTHE in Courchevel

Finally, three chefs are awarded a third star: Kei Kobayashi for restaurant KEI in ParisChristopher Coutanceau in La Rochelle and Glenn Viel for L'Oustau de Baumanière.

New 3-Michelin-star chefs in France:

  • Kei KOBAYASHI - Restaurant KEI in Paris
  • Christopher COUTANCEAU in  La Rochelle
  • Glenn VIEL for L’Oustau de Baumanière

But, it's a cold shower for some top chefs. We can think of restaurant Paul Bocuse loosing its third star.

Let’s recall that several criteria are taken into account by the jury members: the quality of the products; a chef’s mastery of flavour and cooking techniques; the chef’s ability to imbue the cuisine with his or her culinary “personality”.
