Paris without car is happening on Sunday September 16, 2018!
For 7 hours, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Paris will take the time to live without the unstopping noise of cars. This year, the slot leaves people the time to leave the city with their cars in the morning and to come back before nightfall.
For this 4th edition, on Sunday September 16, 2018 cars are not allowed in Paris (excluding the belt highway and the woods) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Only emergency vehicles, ambulances, police cars, buses, cabs and private hire are authorized to drive at 30km/h (18.64 mph)!
Be rest assured, there are exemptions if you need to go to the hospital or take grandma to the country, but you will have to prove your credentials and a proof of address, a good reason (a parking card for people with disabilities, a sick baby or just a woman in labor) and to respect a limit of 30km/h...
Paris City Hall invites associations to propose activities at email@example.com!
The previous years, the success has been so huge that picnics happened in the streets:
Discovering a car-free Paris, seeing bike riders going up Rue de Rivoli in the other way, enjoying calm streets, strolling around on the asphalt usually taken over by cars and seeing Parisians settling down on avenues to enjoy free animations… So many pictures are to be taken!
Please note that on the occasion, some will enjoy the day to promote green tourism and opening the way to many good deals, especially during this European Heritage Day and the European Week for mobility.
What about a quiet walk?
