The Phrygians are coming to Paris: these are the names of the two mascots for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, presented on November 14, 2022 by the Paris Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games.

With only a few weeks to go before the opening of ticket sales for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Olympic Organizing Committee unveiled the emblems of this international competition on Monday, November 14, 2022. Paris welcomes its new mascots: the Phrygians!

These funny red characters represent the Phrygian bonnet, " which embodies the French Republic ", says Tony Estanguet, President of the Organizing Committee. " This symbol is already part of our daily lives, in town halls, in art, on stamps and in school textbooks. This well-known object makes sense in France, and allows us to carry this symbol of freedom, of Jeux à la française ", he adds.

The Phryges thus become " the living embodiment of this incredible adventure we are living ", enthuses Tony Estanguet.

The two mascots represent an entire people invented by the Committee. The Phryges are sporty, festive creatures with a very special mission for the coming years.

The Olympic Phrygia wants to convince the French to take up or get back into sport, while the Paralympic Phrygia wants to motivate us and turn us into true supporters, ready to cheer on the French team in a great movement of joy and solidarity.

Julie Matikhine, COJO Brand Director, adds that the Phryges are leading " a revolution through sport ", to make France a healthier, more athletic nation. These mascots embody an ideal, that of freedom," insists the organization.

The Phryges are now available from the Paris 2024 online store , as well as from Carrefour chains and the Olympic Games store at the Forum des Halles. These plush toys and related products are made in China by French SMEs, using recycled materials," explains Tony Estanguet.
