A not-to-be-missed event in Paris, the Nuit des Musées brings together the curious and the passionate for a fine program of free nocturnes at the heart of museums, monuments, art foundations and other cultural venues. Paris andthe whole of the Île-de-France region are taking part in this springtime event, which returns for its 20th edition on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
Music lovers, be sure to visit the Philharmonie de Paris, also known as the Cité de la Musique, in the capital's 19th arrondissement, for Nuit des Musées. Located in the Parc de la Villette, the Philharmonie combines a concert hall, rehearsal rooms and exhibition spaces, including the Musée de la Musique. The venue also offers regular educational workshops, making it a true living space built around the musical arts.

Spectacular, funny and unsuspected inventions, genial and determined inventors, the Musée de la Musique invites you to explore its collection!
Within the Philharmonie de Paris, the Musée de la Musique houses a collection of almost 9,000 instruments and objets d'art, 1,000 of which are on display. The collection recounts the history of music from the late 16th century to the present day, and provides an overview of the world's major musical cultures.
The Museum's rooms are home to rare and unusual instruments such as the tortoise guitar, the charango, the mouth organ, the octobasse, the electric violin...
Some of the instruments belonged to such luminaries as Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Django Reinhardt, Frank Zappa and Pierre Henry.
Unheard-of sounds fill the spaces of the Musée de la Musique.
Whether glass vibrations or electric waves, the sounds of the ondes Martenot, the glass harmonica and the theremin still hold a fascination for composers, performers and listeners today.
