This year, Paris Conciergerie takes part in Museums Night… This is the occasion to discover this beautiful museum, as well as the ongoing exhibition, "En quête de liberté", focusing on works by El Anatsui.

History and Paris enthusiasts wishing to discover the Conciergerie for Museums Night 2021 will be able to enjoy this beautiful history-filled museum on Saturday July 3 and enjoy the place through the prism of an exceptional late-night opening.

For the record, the Conciergerie was a prison, Paris historic prison built in the 6th century. Middle-Ages, Renaissance, Revolution, the building has seen many personalities. This is even where Marie-Antoinette will end her life, Robespierre also waited for his trial there… and still today, the Conciergerie keeps tracks of his story.

The cells keep the tracks of the prisoners waiting for their trials, the confessional seems to murmur revealed secrets and the kitchen in the basement remind us of the numbers of prisoners to feed! In other words, many rooms to discover to know more about the history of France.

And you can enjoy the current exhibition focusing on artist El Anatsui:

The Conciergerie welcomes plastic artist Al El Anatsui with a beautiful installation, "En quête de liberté", the first in France. The artist - oh-so famous in Africa - has been given free rein to create and present his work as part of the Africa 2020 season and signs mischievous works, made for the thousand-year-old monument. The exhibition runs from May 20 to November 14, 2021.
