Once again this year, the Musée des Arts et Métiers welcomes curious young and old alike to the rooms of the museum dedicated to the inventions of all time. Cars, airplanes, monumental buildings, computers and music boxes, cathedral models... The museum's collections offer a glimpse of mankind's most extraordinary inventions.
As you make your way through the collections, let yourself be hypnotized by the oscillations of Foucault's pendulum as you watch the Earth spin, by flying machines in pursuit of Icarus' dream, be electrified by the sparks of human genius, captivated by demonstrations from the past. Organized into seven thematic sections, the tour features some of the finest pieces in the museum's collection.

At the dawn of the second half of the 19th century, the Earth's rotation had yet to be scientifically demonstrated. It took the ingenuity of self-taught physicist Léon Foucault to design an instrument that would provide the first concrete answer to a question that dated back to antiquity. It was a momentous occasion, and in 1851 Parisian crowds flocked to the Pantheon to watch Foucault's pendulum swing. Today, you can relive this exceptional experience under the no less prestigious vault of the church of Saint-Martin-des-Champs.
