  • From pigment to oil paint
    Saturday, May 18, 6:30 p.m.

Oil painting has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages, and acquired its letters of nobility in 15th-century Flanders, particularly with Van Eyck. This painter brought to perfection the pictorial process of successive mixtures of mineral pigments, an oil medium and a multiplication of glazes, in successive layers; two major works bear witness to this: the Altarpiece of the Mystic Lamb in Ghent and the Virgin of Chancellor Rolin in the Louvre.
Until the 19th century, painters prepared their colors in their own workshops.
Oil paint is a paint whose binder is a drying oil that completely envelops the pigment particles.
Come and discover the complex manufacture of this medium with a visual artist.
