On the occasion of the Nuit des Musées, organized on May 18, 2024, the Petit Palais welcomes visitors free of charge in the evening, for various activities within the museum. Concerts, drawing workshops... Something to surprise the curious!

Nuit des Musées 2024 in Paris promises to be rich in cultural discoveries, and the Petit Palais is getting ready to open its doors for a never-before-seen nocturnal experience on Saturday, May 18. This magnificent building, located between the Champs-Élysées and the Seine, is one of the French capital's architectural gems. Come and explore the history of the building and admire its exceptional art collections during this special evening. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Parisian culture and rediscover the Petit Palais in a whole new light.

The Petit Palais was designed by architect Charles Girault and inaugurated in 1900, during theParis Universal Exhibition. It was built in parallel with the Grand Palais and the Pont Alexandre III, forming a harmonious architectural ensemble emblematic of the Beaux-Arts style. Since 1902, the Petit Palais has been home to the Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris, whose collections range from antiquity to the early 20th century. In 1974, the building was classified as a historic monument, testifying to its heritage importance.

This year, the museum is once again offering a number of surprises and enchantments, as you stroll through its halls and gardens, for an evening celebrating music and drawing in all its forms.   • Gentle gymnastics session
    Saturday, May 18, 6:00 p.m.

    After theory, there's nothing like practice! Take your turn exploring movement with a gym session. Under the expert guidance of a sports coach, champions and novice athletes alike can find balance and gently reconnect with their bodies.

    In partnership with the Comité Régional Ile de France de la Fédération Française de Gymnastique Volontaire.
    20-minute session, precise times to be announced.



  • Discover the new Bodies in Motion course
    Saturday, May 18, 6:00 p.m.

    For European Museum Night, the Petit Palais is inaugurating its new exhibition in the form of a sporting stroll through its collections.
    This reading of the permanent exhibition through the prism of the body, anatomy and sport highlights almost 50 works from the museum, from Antiquity to the early 20th century, some of which have been specially brought out of storage. Various themes will be explored: the origins of the Olympic Games, with representations of athletes on ancient vases, dance, the heroic body, women and sport... The tour is enriched by video interviews with athletes, who share with the public their sporting outlook on the paintings, sculptures, objets d'art, drawings and prints in the Petit Palais collections.
    The tour also includes:
    A children's tour, with labels specially designed for young sports enthusiasts.
    A tour application, to listen to comments on the most important works from room to room. An audio-description tour for the visually impaired is also available.

  • Concert and theatrical entertainment: The anthem
    Saturday, May 18, 6:30 p.m.

    The Camille Saint-Saëns Conservatory (8th arrondissement) joins the Petit Palais team for European Museum Night. The wind and symphony orchestras will enliven the evening, accompanied by student actors in Olympic form. Discoveries, performances, emotions: a muscular but perfectly mastered program!

  • Drawing workshop
    Saturday, May 18, 6:30 p.m.

    Guided by the museum's visual artists, young and old alike draw the museum's works in an attempt to capture their movement.
    In the permanent collections
    Free admission, subject to availability.



And if the weather's fine, don't hesitate to take a stroll through the semi-circular garden, bordered by a richly ornate peristyle; awork by Charles Girault, who designed the Petit Palais for the 1900 Universal Exhibition.
