The Musée d'Orsay is taking part in the 20th Nuit des Musées on Saturday, May 18, 2024, with a free, fun-filled nocturnal tour of the museum's collections and news.

Among the capital's must-see museums, the Musée d'Orsay, located on the banks of the Seine in the 7th arrondissement, tops the list. A magnificent museum, which can be visited free of charge and without reservation this Saturday, May 18, 2024, during the 20th edition of Nuit des Musées.

For this special event, the Musée d'Orsay invites us to discover its temporary exhibition of the moment, in a festive atmosphere, led by mediators, lecturers, visual artists ...

In addition to these activities, you can enjoy the museum's permanent collections. Notable masterpieces includeGustave Courbet'sOrigin of the World (1866), Edouard Manet's Emile Zola ( 1868) and Le déjeuner sur l'herbe (1863), Vincent van Gogh'sSelf-Portrait (1889),Edgar Degas' Petite danseuse de 14 ans (1865-1881), Gustave Caillebotte 's Les Raboteurs de parquet (1875)... and many more.   • Self-guided tour of the Musée d'Orsay permanent collections

    Free access to the permanent collections (subject to the closure of certain rooms). Museum open from 6pm to 11pm. Last admission at 10pm. Halls evacuated at 10:30pm.



  • Immersive virtual reality expedition / An evening with the Impressionists
    Saturday, May 18, 6:15pm

    Paris, April 15, 1874, eight o'clock in the evening, in the former studio of the famous photographer Nadar, on Boulevard des Capucines. On the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building, some thirty painters gathered to present a selection of around 165 works to the public. Relive the opening night of the first Impressionist exhibition in virtual reality! A unique and immersive journey back in time, to share with family and friends.

    The experience is recommended for children aged 11 and over, and is inaccessible to children under 8.

    We would like to remind you that all virtual reality experiences, given the technology used, are not recommended for people with a heart condition or prone to epileptic seizures and migraines, or for people with balance or vision problems.

    Walkers and motorized wheelchairs are not permitted in the space. Manual wheelchairs may be provided, but must be used independently or with an attendant.



  • Encounters in the permanent collections with cultural mediation students from the INSPÉ of the Académie de Versailles

    History/histories
    As the museum celebrates a historic date with the exhibition "Paris 1874, Inventing Impressionism", INSPE students from Versailles invite you to broaden the scope of history by discovering the ancient texts and events that inspired the artists at the Musée d'Orsay.



  • Impressionist accessory! - Artistic and creative workshop
    Saturday, May 18, 6:30 p.m.

    Impressionist accessory
    Celebrate the Impressionist anniversary with an ephemeral workshop in the Museum's nave. Take inspiration from the motifs and techniques of the masters of the fleeting moment, and create your own original fan. Under the guidance of a visual artist.
