On May 20, 2017, European Museum Night is back. In Paris and in Île-de-France, many institutions are open until late in the evening to offer you unique and unprecedented activities... The program is wide, so here is a list of tips and good ideas so that you can make the best of this night. Follow the guide!

In 2016, not less than 3,000 French museums took part in European Museum Night and over 2 million visitors answered the call. This year, thousands of activities are organized in the participating museums (concerts, guided tours, screenings, performances...). To help you making the right call, here is our selection among the capital’s main museums:

European Museum Night in Paris top 10:

  • Museum Night at the Centre Pompidou 
    The Centre Pompidou takes part in the 2017 Museum Night and invites us to discover the collections, for free, through guided tours.

  • Museum Night at the Louvre 
    On Saturday May 20, 2017, the Louvre invites young-ones and grown-ups to take the sacred beast of Parisian heritage over during a night visit free of charge for everyone!

  • Museum Night at the Musée d’Orsay 
    On Saturday May 20, 2017 from 6 p.m. to midnight, the Musée d’Orsay takes part in the 2017 Museum Night and offers the perfect opportunity to visit the current exhibitions for free and to attend a show performed by the astrophysicist, Hubert Reeves.

  • Museum Night at the Musée Picasso 
    During the 2017 Museum Night held on Saturday May 20, 2017 from 6 p.m. to midnight, the Musée Picasso will host a show called "Subterfuge" staged by Nicolas Fenouillat and Ola Maciejewska oscillating between live concert and dance show.

  • Museum Night at the Musée de l’Orangerie 
    Through the 2017 Museum Night, the Musée de l’Orangerie makes us experience the Tokyo life thanks to pieces from Bridgestone Museum in Tokyo currently exhibited. The night is free of charge and this is the opportunity to admire Claude Monet’s Water Lilies whilst listening to lute and flute!

  • Museum Night at the Musée de l’Homme
    For the 2017 Museum Night, the Musée de l’Homme invites us to wonder about our own identity: guided tours of the museum, free discovery of the exhibition focused on prejudices and racism, movies on the topic are to be discovered for free on Saturday May 20, 2017 from 7 p.m.!

  • Museum Night at Fondation Vuitton 
    Fondation Vuitton takes part in the 2017 Museum Night on Saturday May 20, 2017 from 6 p.m. to midnight. It is the perfect opportunity to visit the current exhibitions for free and to attend a concert.

  • Musem Night at the Musée Guimet 
    The National Museum of Asian arts, the Musée Guimet, takes part in the 2017 Museum night on Saturday May 20, 2017 from 6 p.m. to midnight. Here is the opportunity to visit the current exhibitions for free during a torch-lit visit.

  • Museum Night at the Cinémathèque 
    The Cinémathèque is taking part in the Museum Night on Saturday May 20, 2017, and offers guided tours, make-up workshops and a musical atmosphere in relationship with its exhibition "Mômes & Cie" [Kids & Co], as well as a movie screening of "Super 8".

  • Museum Night at the Cité de la Musique 
    On Saturday May 20, 2017, the Cité de la Musique will be open until late in the night to honor the Museum Night. To do so, the museum will offer several free concerts from 7:30 p.m. to midnight.
