Nuit Blanche 2019 at Les Invalides - musée de l'Armée

This year, the Musée de l'Armée is taking advantage of Nuit Blanche, on Saturday, October 5, 2019, to unveil its new exhibition, Les Canons de l'Elégance, free for one evening, but also to let us discover Saint-Louis Cathedral, which will welcome the Garde Républicaine wind band for a grand concert at 8pm.

The Musée de l' Armée will open its doors at night on Saturday, October 5, 2019, for the Nuit Blanche. At the request of Didier Fusillier, the event's artistic director, the historic monument will host the 10km night race, scheduled to start at 10pm! Those taking part in the race will cross the Dome and the tomb of Napoleon I, as well as the soldiers' church and the majestic Cour d'Honneur.

For the others, those who don't run museums (the joke was easy), it will be possible to visit the Cathédrale Saint-Louis, stroll through the Cour d'Honneur, specially illuminated for the occasion, and discover the future exhibition les Canons de l'Elégance, which brings together over 200 accessories that have served warriors throughout the ages, from armory pieces to embroidery, goldsmithing and saddlery. Please note that its doors only open after 7pm, as the exhibition is closed before then (it officially opens on October 10, 2019).

And if you're in the passage around 8pm, don't miss the Garde Républicaine wind band for a grand tribute concert to Hector Berlioz (1803-1869), performing the Symphonie funèbre et triomphale, created to accompany the grand military procession on the anniversary of the 1830 Revolution.

This is the perfect way to liven up an evening for war invalids, who are still welcome at the center designed by Louis XIV in 1670!
