For the White Night 2021, the CNES Space Observatory invites you all on an exclusive movie session. On October 2, 2021, from 1 p.m. and until one in the morning, discover work conducted by Justine Emard and Eléonore Geissler, who both carried out a documentary investigation in the CNES audiovisual archives to make these videos.
Therefore, Justine Emard presents In praesentia, a video work devoted to the “interaction modalities between the different non-human entities found in Space”. The artist uses a formal language on archive pictures to “characterize the life of these non-humans, all the way to imagining a meeting protocol”.
As for the Présence Circulaires, created by Eléonore Geissler, the video is like a “telling of her visual investigation of the Starlette geodesy satellite”. A “surprising dance of phantasmagoric apparitions, animated, singing and dancing” creating then “a visual palimpsest that should be understood as the many attempts to represent non-humans”.
After playing both videos for the White Night 2021, the movies will be added to the contemporary art collection of the CNES Space Observatory kept at the Abattoirs, Musée – Frac Occitanie Toulouse.
Because of the health conditions, movie sessions are only open to health pass. Two sessions per hour are scheduled. Facemask-wearing is mandatory.
