From December 23 to January 6, for the Holidays, dancers from the Kiev National Ballet will give 16 performances of “Nutcracker” the famous ballet by Marius Petipa at Paris Théâtre des Champs-Elysées.
“Nutcracker” which score has been written by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1891/1892 mixes love, tenderness and poetry through the frozen dreams of a young girl. Moving to adulthood, she feels her feelings awake. This marvelous tale tells in two acts her dreams coming to life through choreographies.
The version performed these Holidays by the Kiev Ballet has been choreographed by Valeriy Kovtun based on the original version created by French Marius Petipa.
With “Nutcracker”, prestigious Kiev National Ballet managed by Aniko Rekhviashvili is back in Paris where it hasn’t performed since 1964.
Created in 1867, Ukraine National Opera has just celebrated its 150th anniversary. Since then, it professionalized and currently includes 150 dancers performing 16 times a month at the Kiev National Ballet. Its repertoire currently includes 24 ballets and it’s one of the most complete in the world.
