Jazz District Festival 2019 at the GoodPlanet Foundation

Jazz invites itself to the GoodPlanet Foundation for the first edition of the Jazz District Festival; a free jazz festival to be discovered outdoors on Saturday August 31 and Sunday September 1, 2019.

Feel like swinging in a bucolic setting? Then don't miss the very first edition of the Jazz District Festival.

To be discovered in the open air, within the GoodPlanet Foundation, this free jazz festival will offer over an entire weekend, on Saturday August 31 and Sunday September 1, 2019, four jazz bands, two showcases and numerous winners of the springboard organized by Groover.

Program Saturday, August 31, 2019:

  • 3:00 pm: Sarah Thorpe Quartet, a Franco-British singer, is one of the up-and-coming stars of today's jazz scene. After a childhood spent between the Paris region and Yorkshire, she trained with the great vocal pedagogues...

  • 4:30pm: The first winner of the Tremplin Groover competition launched by Art district radio will perform a showcase in the heart of La Clairière.

  • 5:30pm: David Pastor has collaborated with artists and orchestras around the world, and is now one of the leading figures on the Hispanic jazz scene. An original fusion that blends bop, funk and Brazilian music, among others, always with a desire to create rich sonic textures with electronic accents and nuanced rhythms.

Program Sunday, September 1, 2019:

  • 3:00 pm: Julia Perminova is a young Russian pianist and composer, born in Tyumen, Russia. With her Paris Trio featuring Joachim Govin and Guilhem Flouzat, audiences are bound to be moved by the imagination, vital energy and sincerity of their music.

  • 4:30pm: The first winner of the Tremplin Groover launched by Art district radio will perform a showcase in the heart of La Clairière.

  • 5:30pm: Come and discover Hard Swing Mango! This trio from Poitou, revealed by the Cybèle stage at the Jazz à Vienne festival, has shared a common desire since its creation: to play open music where everyone can find their freedom... from jazz adaptations of pop-rock standards to highly creative lyrical compositions.
