World Environment Day: a virtual festival with Patti Smith, Ben Harper…

Amid this health crisi, events are held but all are different. After the huge online show “One World: Together at Home” co-curated by Lady Gaga, and prior to Download TV devoted to metal music fans, discover "Pathway to Paris: virtual festival for our planet". This virtual festival, co-curated by the international NGO 350.org, will be the occasion to celebrate all together, but at home, World Environment Day. On the menu? Music, of course, as well as movies and talks in order to find solutions to help our beautiful planet.

Pathway to Paris: an initiative from Jesse Paris Smith & Rebecca Foon

Behind the “Pathway to Paris: virtual festival for our planet” event, we have an initiative from Pathway to Paris gathering musicians, artists, militants, students, politicians and innovators. They all participate in a series of events and meetings in order to raise awareness about environmental issues and recall the climatic emergency.

Co-created by musicians and activists Jesse Paris Smith – aka Patti Smith’s daughter – and Rebecca Foon, Pathway to Paris started with a night mixing shows and meetings at Poison Rouge in September 2014 in New York, right after the Walk for Climate. About 6 years later, Pathway to Paris is still as committed and organizes a virtual festival to celebrate the World Environment Day on June 5.

Because of the health crisis, this virtual festival will be airing live on Pathway to Paris’ Facebook on Friday June 5, 2020 at 3 p.m. EST. In France, because of the time difference, you’ll have to be up and in front of your screen at 9 p.m. (CEST).

And to honor this virtual festival, Pathway to Paris can rely on the support of several and great artists such as Michael Stipe from REM, Patti Smith, Ben Harper and even Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Angélique Kidjo, Elisapie, Safia Nolin and Raju Lama. Other celebrities have been announced such as contemporary Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson, Montreal mayor Valérie Plante and May Boeve from 350.org.
