Because of the ongoing health crisis and the ban of festivals in Europe until mid-July 2020, the 43rd edition of the Défense Jazz Festival - first planned from June 22 to 28 - is postponed to September 21 to 27, 2020. On the occasion, the festival will provide free outdoor shows, at the foot of the famous towers of the La Défense area. The lineup? Ebony Frainteso, Ezra Collective, and even Ibrahim Maalouf.
Following French President Emmanuel Macron's announcements this Monday April 13 banning all big events such as festivals until mid-July, the Hauts-de-Seine department has to postpone the 43rd edition of the Défense Jazz Festival said to take place from June 22 to 28.

The priority of the Hauts-de-Seine department is first and foremost the health and safety of the audience, artists and teams.

In this current global health crisis context, the Défense Jazz Festival has been in touch with partners for days to give festivalgoers an edition 2020. It will take place from September 21 to 27 with a new lineup soon to be announced.

Sortiraparis tells you, you’ll love lunchtimes and evenings at La Défense from Monday September 21 to Sunday 27, 2020! And for good reason, the Défense Jazz Festival is back on the Esplanade for an exceptional new and 42nd edition paced by free outdoor concerts.

On lunchtimes and in the evenings, varied artists from different musical backgrounds will perform. Last year, Gogo Penguin, Snarky Puppy, Matthis Pascaud, Kimberose and Avishai Cohen Trio put on a show.

This year, who will have the honor to walk the temporary stage set up at the foot of the famous towers of La Défense? Well, Ibrahim MaaloufCheick Tidiane SeckGuillaume PerretBelmondo Quintet, and even artists initially scheduled for the Festival Chorus in Hauts-de-Seine such as Ebony Frainteso or Altin Gün will join in.

In addition to concerts from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. during the week, in the evenings, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the weekend starting from 8 p.m., we remind you that the Défense Jazz Festival also hosts the Grand Concours National de Jazz open to emerging bands of all ages and nationalities, staying in France. The deadline for registrations is set for August 29, 2020.

Lineup 2020:

Because of the coronavirus crisis, the festival changes its access conditions. Concerts are still free of charge and outside, but within a closed perimeter. Health guidelines will be implemented including controlled access and hand sanitizer.

The festival adds that the audience can enjoy shows while social distancing thanks to the setting up of:

  • a 300-deckchair area that will be disinfected between each use,
  • a 400-standing people area
