Jazz is once again in the spotlight in Paris for the 2023 edition of the Jazz à La Villette festival, held this year from Wednesday August 30 to Sunday September 10! What's on the menu? De La Soul, Oumou Sangaré, Lee Fields, Anne Paceo, Mulatu Astatke, Gogo Penguin, Samara Joy, Ballaké Sissoko and Meshell Ndegeocello.
Like every year, this is the event that jazz lovers and enthusiasts look forward to; I'm talking of course about the Jazz à La Villette Festival. From Wednesday, August 30th to Sunday, September 10th, 2023, creators and innovators take to the stages of the Grande Halle de La Villette and the Philharmonie de Paris to amaze and surprise you with a resolutely modern and contemporary musical style. For 12 days, jazz is in the spotlight, in different forms and with many guests.
This year, the Jazz à la Villette festival once again deploys the whole range of jazz and crosses genres, a living panorama of a music that is constantly evolving thanks to a unique program. On the menu for this 2023 edition ? The Ethiopian musician and arranger considered as the father of ethio-jazz, Mulatu Astatke!
Also on the program this year are the British band Gogo Penguin, American jazz singer Samara Joy, Berlin-born American singer, rapper and musician Meshell Ndegeocello, not to mention the legendary US hip-hop group De La Soul, Ballaké Sissoko and Anne Paceo.
In addition to the Philharmonie de Paris and the Grande Halle de La Villette, note that the festival will also be held this year at the Cité de la Musique. And don't forget Jazz à La Villette for kids, to help the little ones discover the world of jazz and improvised music.
