You may remember that after taking a year off in 2013, the We Love Green Festival came back strong in 2014, taking over the Parc de Bagatelle for two exceptional days. This third edition welcomed Foals, Cat Power, Lorde, London Grammar and even Pedro Winter.
In 2016, PJ Harvey, LCD Soundsystem, Diplo, Air and Hot Chip came to the hotspot - the festival new field in Bois de Vincennes. The outcome? This edition 2016 welcomed 47,000 festivalgoers (record for attendance), as well as 43 concerts and DJ sets and 31 speakers including a conference by modern art poet Olafur Eliasson.
After successful editions in 2017, 2018 and 2019, Festival We Love Green has had to cancel the edition 2020 scheduled on June 6 and 7 at the Bois de Vincennes in Paris 12th arrondissement because of Covid-19.
In 2021, despite the still uncertain times, We Love Green wished to make "their artistic, cultural and awareness-raising mission experienced". The Ile-de-France festival announced they will retunr on June 3, 5 and 6 at the Bois de Vincennes. But "given the health context and despite our efforst and implication, the idea of a seated festival in June is not worth considering", the organizers explained in a release issued on May 3. Therefore, the 2021 edition of We Love Green was postponed to Friday September 10, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12, at the same location.
But things are still bad for the lovely festival once again announcing, this Thursday August 19, 2021, it has to be cancelled. "If there is something certain with Covid-19 it is uncertainty And this summer 2021, after a rather optimistic period for major cultural events, the context has gone bad again for the past weeks.
From an artisitic and sanitary, administrative and financial point of view, conditions are no longer brought together to serenely produce the ambitious WE LOVE GREEN we worked on.
The risk of carrying out a highly deteriorated edition for a festival of this size has grown too big and we have had to make this painful decision and keep our ambition for 2022. There will be no WE LOVE GREEN 2021, we tried everything we could."
While waiting for the new edition, you can still enjoy the festival's spirit in Paris with We Love Green présente Wonderland: a huge summery, hybrid, open-air place up until October 4, 2021.
