Created in 2003 at the Donington Park motorsport circuit in Leicestershire in England, Download Festival arrived in France for the first time in June 10, 11 and 12, 2016.
Relying on a very rock programming, this very first French edition took over the Hippodrome de Longchamp in Paris. In terms of lineup, the festival put on a great spread by welcoming Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Korn, Deftones, Megadeth, Ghost, Volbeat, Biffy Clyro, Amon Amarth, Gojira, Sabaton, Anthrax, Rival Sons and Trivium on three different stages.
Facing the success of the first French edition, Download Festival Paris returned in June 2017 with System of A Down, Linkin Park, Blink 182, Green Day and Prophets of Rage, in the summer 2018, the festival took place for four days with Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson, the Foo Fighters and even the Guns N'Roses.

Now, we know a little bit more on this new and fourth edition of Download Festival France. Save the date, friends! The festival prepares a new menu, "still rock, greener more aware of its territorial, human and convivial creation" the release says.
Meet on Friday May 29, Saturday 30 and Sunday 21, 2019 in the Base 217 in Brétigny-sur-Orge / Le Plessis-Pâté.
For this new edition, organizers have came up with "a place of life itself where camping and festival are one" especially including "an increased festival experience, a lob of art, sport, association initiatives, the whole designed through the prism of sustainable development."
"Local players will be more involved this year and more present on the spot especially with the local farmer organic market. [...] One king of ticket will be available: the entrance to the festival, regardless of the day" Plessis-Pâté mayor Sylvain Tanguy said.
According to Live Nation France General Manager Angelo Gopee: "It's important for us to stay in the BA217, not only because we promised it but also because we started to write a beautiful story and there are still wonderful pages to write. We took the time to think to create a new model based on a genuine collaborative momentum with the reinforcement of a local, territorial and regional integration along with a common will - making of Download France a unique experience of sharing".
