On September 7 to 9, 2017, the Main Courtyard of the Hôtel National des Invalides hosts the Festival Opéra en Plein Air (Open-air Opera Festival). Each year, the festival offers to revisit an opera by a celebrity that is often completely out of the lyrical art, such as French economist Jacques Attali, American-born French singer and actress Arielle Dombasle or French journalist Patrick Poivre d’Arvor.
This year, French actress and film producer Julie Gayet and actor Kên Higelin join forces to stage the famous Marriage of Figaro by W.A. Mozart, an opera-buffa based on Beaumarchais’ play Le Mariage de Figaro taking place in a castle near Seville.
The two associates stage about twenty opera singers from the Chœur Opéra en Plein Air and actors with music directed by Yannis Pouspourikas under the direction of Anne Gravoin.
For this 17th edition, the stage design has entirely been redesigned to allow the public to hear and see better and to improve the general comfort. To have the best view possible, you should arrive at 7 p.m. (when the gates open), even though the show starts at 9 p.m.
