Every year, the Festival Opéra en Plein Air offers to revisit an opera by a celebrity that is often completely out of the lyrical art, such as American-born French singer and actress Arielle Dombasle in 2015, Carmen revisited by French journalist Patrick Poivre d’Arvor or actress and producer Julie Gayet that offered a revisit of the Marriage of Figaro last year.
In 2108, it’s Georges Bizet’s masterpiece Carmen that will (once again) be revisited. After a revisit in 2010 by Patrick Poivre d’Arvor, it’s now Radu Mihaileanu who is entrusted with the staging.
Filmmaker and scenarist of Live and Become, The Source and Le Concert, a movie that revealed to the general public his interest in classic music. In this feature length, we follow a group of former Moscow Bolshoi musicians wishing to replace their successors for a concert in Paris. A true success in France and around the globe: four million viewers have been seduced in Europe and two million in France.
Helped by Yannis Pouspourikas (conductor residing in Essen Opera) at the music direction and Anne Gravoin as first violin, a new production of Festival Opéra en Plein Air promising a show of a great art quality.
In addition to the revisit, Festival Opéra en Plein Air is performed in these wonderful venues:
Always in the open air, in the most beautiful castles in France, this opera will move you even more than inside a venue!
