Tree of Codes at Paris Opéra Bastille

Starting this June 26, 2019, Paris Opéra Bastille presents the last ballet of the season, Tree of Codes, a Wayne McGregor ballet with a score by British musician Jamie XX and a choreography by Icelandic and world-famous artist Olafur Eliasson.

How sweet the ballets closing Opéra Bastille season are! We remember Signes, Carolyn Carlson’s sour production back in 2013. This year again, let’s enjoy a musical, stage, and choreographic experimentation.

Tree of codes is the sharp collaboration with more than skilled artists including British choreographer Wayne McGregor and musician Jamie XX – known for his participation to British electro band The xx – and Olafur Eliasson – Icelandic artist who keeps on playing with light and space and whose fame has gone far beyond his natal island a long time ago.

On stage, dancers of the Company Wayne McGregor and the Ballet de l’Opéra national de Paris meet and evolve in a space filled with mirrors cleverly set by Eliasson, taking the audience and the dancers in a disturbing universe. They will perform on Jamie xx’s techno-pop creations who’s undoubtedly one of the most brilliant artists of these past few years.
