Since 2015, Lido Paris has been performing a new show, the “Paris-Merveilles” revue created by Franco Dragone who trained at Cirque du Soleil.
Before enjoying the revue, Lido Paris provides a dinner-show offer including several menus and for different rates (from €130 to €300), including a vegetarian menu as well as a complete menu.
So, the Champs-Elysée evening menu includes a choice of starter such as foie gras with candied apricots, as well as duckling with flower honey served with caramelized fennel for the main course or even veal with pan-fried wild mushrooms, gnocchis and snow peas as main courses. Moving on to dessert, it’s maison Lenôtre who steps in with a strawberry entremets topping a soft biscuit and strawberry jelly – among other desserts.
During the meal, the atmosphere is warmed up by two musicians and a mechanic orchestra. If they start with French classics, when the show is close to begin, we’re invited to dance on Get Lucky by Daft Punk or even Jailhouse Rock by Elvis.
Then, let’s enjoy Lido Paris revue: Paris-Merveilles.
In the show, the city of Paris is almost omnipresent in the songs devoted to the city as well as the pictures screened in the background and enhancing the City of Lights.
The Bluebell Girls and the Lido Boys perform scenes – sometimes in the air, around a Swarovski chandelier, sometimes in fountains or simply in front of screened décor, more or less dressed, with or without feather.
The Lido company dances its heart off with the famous French Cancan. High-pitched shouts, wheels, it’s all here and artists run around the audience.
We particularly loved the “Barricade”, a scene inspired by the French Revolution and during which, the Bluebell Girls are bare breasted under a military jacket make us think about the Femen. A scene that is also taught during the Lido Bootcamp.
Some costumes are simply breathtaking, such as this giant and puffy black dress under which hide dancers or the lit skirts.
The show includes shadow puppets, mime and live singing. As for entertainments, acrobatics, fire and other contortions are here.
Whether it’s thanks to the punk-like wigs, the choreographies, Paris Merveilles modernizes the cabaret show. A genre that has a bright future ahead.
