Hakuna Matata! The Lion King musical is back to Paris théâtre Mogador, 10 years after its latest performance at the theater. Even though the show was said to start from September 2020, because of the coronavirus epidemic, it is postponed to Fall, 2021. The show has been extended for a second season already and will be performed until December 31, 2022.

What fantastic news!
Disney’s “The Lion King” keeps on making children and adults dream.
After a Live Motion reboot in summer 2019 and a live musical show at Disneyland Paris over the same period as part of the Lion King and Jungle Book Festival, it’s the famous Broadway musical that returns in 2021 at the théâtre Mogador in Paris.

As a matter of fact, celebrating its 15th anniversary in France, Stage Entertainment expects to celebrate the event with the greatest musical: “The Lion King” performed at Mogador. A success as the show goes on for a 2nd season until December 31, 2022.

Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumba, Rafiki, Mufasa, Scar and the hyenas and all the inhabitants of the land of the lions will take over the famous théâtre Mogador for the original version of musical “The Lion King” that delighted Paris already in 2007 and for three seasons, counting up about one million viewers.

In Broadway, the show has been an unquestionable success for 22 years. In the world, “The Lion King” has been performed in nine languages.

Our review:

What a pleasure to finally be able to enjoy live the Lion King and the results live to our expectations.

With this new version of the Lion KingStage Entertainment is awesome, very awesome. As much as for the background, as for the staging and the cast.

For its return to MogadorThe Lion King - which music is performed live by an orchestra (special features of the Stage productions), has treated themselves to a background revolving between big real elements (the lions' rock, the elephant cemetery...) and colorful video screenings. The background is also been created by the dancers whose extraordinary costumes enable to show plants among others. But, The Lion King is also the challenge of making a show where characters are all animals, without having any animal on stage.

The wild animals are made true to size thanks to puppets mostly - life-size puppets then - moved by artists. The impressive giraffes are played by people on stilts, Timon by Alexandre Faitrouni (who was already him in the Disney show), who makes the puppet move with his body...

The Lion King is also a company of talented artists. The crew managed to find very professional children to play young Simba and Nala. Among the lions, the most badass one is undoubtedly Luc Guizonne who reprised Mufasa at the last minute. He already amazed us when he played Chicago a few years back at Mogador.

But The Lion King 2021 also features re-arranged music. Therefore, some music are very rock or very Latino. And lines have been modernized to make the audience laugh. But the funniest character is Rafiki. The baboon played by South-African actress Ntsepa Pitjeng has already played the part in different languages.

Moving on to the staging, there are some great ideas. First of all, animals walk across the room several times, surprising us sometimes. But the deaths of Mufasa and Scar are more suggested than violent, and it is a good point for children.

And The Circle of Life is still as moving with the South-African choir.

A very beautiful show you do not want to miss.

Show seen in the Fall 2021.
