Performed by the RB Dance Company, “Stories” is a danced show about Icare, a young actor whose movies are very successful. But, in the shadow, he endures the very oppressing rise of his director. After another argument between the two, Icare becomes the prisoner of the movie tiding him to the filmmaker.
“Stories” mixes music, tap-dance, as well as street dance and music. On stage, about 10 artists dance the different characters of the story, tap-dancing and performing street jazz, the company’s specialty, founded in 2018.
The RB Dance Company – led by the show director, Romain Rachline Borgeaud (Romain RB) met success with the 13th season of “La France a un Incroyable Talent” [France’s Got Talent] in 2018. The tap-dancing company went all the way up to the final. They finished in the 4th position.
“Stories” is the very first show of the RB Dance Company whose performances in the TV show have been remarkable.
Technically speaking, the base of the "Stories" show is tap dance. But don't be afraid, we're far from the traditional tap dance. Here, dance is resolutely modern and tap dance is mixed with other danced disciplines.
"Stories" hits very hard from the beginning with a light scene where files fly everywhere.
Music for this scene grows faster, sharper and very urban.
If the beginning of the music is very street-inspired, it changes to Spanish or more rock'n'roll hints - for a choreography reminding us of Grease. Later on, the hotel yellow-dressed grooms make us think of Palace and the choreographies performed in some ads. "Stories" multiplies references to pop culture.
All along the show, music is nagging, overpowering twisted with the bass sound of the key.
Decors used for "Stories" are designed by Federia Mugnai and are very clever: movable, they are moved according to scenes, represent a staircase or a bar... And always aptly used.
Last but not least, beautiful scenes happen in this show that is lively and features even some acrobatics figures, even though the show may start to feel long at some point.
