Cuban company Soy de Cuba is back at the Casino de Paris until 30, 2021 with their new show: Viva la Vida! One of the first major shows to be performed in town when show venues reopen to the public.

After their success at the Palais des Sports and La Cigale, Cuban company Soy de Cuba is back at the Casino de Paris from June 3 to 30, 2021 with their new show, Viva la Vida! A show that was first expected to be performed in April 2020, but that has been postponed on several occasions over the Coronavirus epidemic.
But this time is the right one. "Viva la Vida!" opens at 7 p.m. at the latest until June 8, 2021 to comply with curfew. Then, the show will start at 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Led by 14 Cuban dancers and a live orchestra including six musicians and two singers, Soy de Cuba are back on stage. All they need to delight Cuban music, dance and culture fans.

In 2017, the story of the show was based on dancer Ayala Yanetsy Morejon’s life, performing her own character: she was leaving the tobacco plantations in Viñales to join Havana on her own and devotes herself to her passion.

In this brand-new show, Ayala’s life changes when she meets a young boxer, Oscar, who works at the cigar factory (played by Osmani Montero Hernandez, who won the Cuban Dance With the Stars in 2018). Two opposite futures dance and love will reunite.

Over the colorful scenes and wild dance, Viva la Vida! provides a panorama of the Cuban music and legendary dances: Rumba, Salsa, Mambo, Chacha-Cha and Reggaeton.

Our review:

Soy de Cuba takes us straight to Havana thanks to Latin music and dancing.

Mambo, salsa, rumba... and even tap dance to the music of batucadas are to be expected throughout the show going all out. Sometimes to rousing music, and sometimes to more melancholic melodies. Music played and sung live by an orchestra on stage alongside dancers.

Backgrounds mix elements found on stage and screenings - of quality - giving some depth to the decor, representing the streets of the capital, and box rings. For Cuba being a land for boxing, here, the noble art holds a very important spot. Elements of this sport are staged and choreographed.

Costumes are simple: (almost) no glitter, these are outfits one could see in the Havana streets. The whole paired with colorful lights.

Ready for a one-way to Cuba without a stopover?
