Following the latest governmental announcements, performances initially scheduled from January 13 to 22, 2022, are postponed to September 15 to 24, 2022.
Announced countless times but postponed over Covid, Romeo and Juliet dance show choreographed by Benjamin Millepied is about to be performed for real in Paris. The show is to take over the Seine Musicale from September 15 to 24, 2022 for nine performances.
For this brand-new show, lead dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied has decided to make ballet talk with video, movie, and play. But he goes beyond as he created an interactive show aiming at taking the audience all the way to backstage, in a borderless world. Some scenes are even filmed and shown live from the wings.
This is a genuine revisit of Prokofiev’s ballet that Millepied proposes with his L.A. Dance Project company. Created by Shakespeare in 1597, the story has been modernized as well. No lovers from Verona, but young adults from the current urban world, in Los Angeles, and facing social standards making their union impossible.
Original right to the end, Millepied has come up with a version of Romeo and Juliet where characters change every night. His show aims at being a celebration of love in all its shapes.
