Michel Polnareff fans will be delighted! The artist is back in France, not for a live show, but an immersive experience, Polnarêves, coming from June 2, 2022 to March 1, 2023 to Paris Le Palace theater.
Although it first involves a 360° musical and visual experience focusing on Michel Polnareff’s career next Fall, the singer will also provide you with immersive live streaming shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. from September 1 to December 3, 2022.
The Palace has got us used to immersive experience such as the Bowie exhibition and Blanca Li’s show. Called Polnarêves (as a nod to the 1974 Polnarêve song), this experience was designed by Michel Polnareff and Marc Benaïche – founder of the Atelier 144. It provides viewers with a never-before-seen immersion into Polnareff’s artistry.
This “immersive musical journey in 7 acts” starts in the corridor of the theater with infographics about Polnareff’s career. Then, in the auditorium, the sound and light are incredible. The atmosphere of the artistry of a new form is highly enjoyable.
The 360° space involves a part of the orchestra and the balcony so you can seat. Pictures are screened on a white canvas covering the entire place from floor to ceiling.
Polnarêves – plural, unlike the 1974 song – are Michel Polnareff’s dreams told in one story involving the cycle of life, between birth and rebirth. Each act illustrates a theme and is played with a song. La Poupée qui fait non, Holidays, Goodbye Marylou, or even On ira tous au Paradis are all in.
Songs played with pictures mostly inspired by nature, poppies (the red thread of the experience), surgeon fishes (like Dory), parakeets, butterflies, lots of greenery, the forest, the ocean, mermaids, the sky, space… Pictures hiding lots of references to the universe created by Polnareff all along his career. His famous white sunglasses wander around here and there all along the experience.
Vintage looking animated pictures (Disney’s 1940 Fantasia movie is a reference), without the quality allowed by today’s technologies, are a tad disappointing sometimes. But the ultimate act includes real pictures, with a mirroring effect of a magnificent beauty. And should you know a little bit Michel Polnareff’s songs, you find yourselves singing and even dancing.
