The Kurdish Cultural Festival of Paris 2024

The Kurdish Democratic Council in France (CDK-F) is organizing the third edition of the Paris Kurdish Cultural Festival from May 25 to June 1, 2024, in partnership with the Fondation Danielle Mitterrand, the Mairie de Paris, the Mairie de Montreuil, the Institut de Réflexion et d'Études sur le Kurdistan (IREK), the Association Arts et Culture du Kurdistan (ACK), the Fondation Danielle Mitterrand and the Association de Solidarité France-Kurdistan.

This third edition will take place in Paris and other cities in the Île-de-France region. It will be a week of intense activities to discover, share and promote Kurdish culture and its rich, threatened heritage.

An invitation to discover one of the most ancient peoples of Mesopotamia, this festival represents an authentic rendezvous and a call to curiosity. It is a reminder of the cultural diversity of our world and the importance of preserving all its riches.

The third edition of the Festival offers a rich and varied program, with artistic performances, arts and crafts workshops, culinary exhibitions and discussions. It is also aimed at children, with a day of fun workshops to discover Kurdish language, music and dance.

Highlights include:

The Festival kicks off on Saturday, May 25, with a colorful folk parade from 16 rue d'Enghien to Carreau du Temple (4 rue Eugène Spuller). Along the way, Kurdish music and Govend (folk dance) dancers will enliven the parade. Come dressed in traditional Kurdish garb!

The inauguration ceremony will take place on Saturday May 25 in the Carreau du Temple concert hall. It will begin with a welcome speech, followed by a documentary on the cultural practices of the Kurdish community in the Paris region. The evening will continue with a concert on the Def (or Erbane), an instrument characteristic of the Kurdish musical tradition. And to top it all off, the prodigious Govend (folk dance) group from Paris, Govenda Rojbîn, will perform a choreography to delight the eyes and delight the senses.

The last day of the festival will be crowned by a grand concert featuring renowned Kurdish artists at the Cirque d'Hiver: Chopy, Koma Amed, Deza Amed. Book your tickets online !
