An aerial spectacle in prospect this Wednesday, April 24 , 2024 in Paris! In a press release published on April 23, the Préfecture de police de Paris announced that it had given the go-ahead for two aerobatic aircraft to fly over Paris, as well as for 15 parachutists to be dropped over theInvalides esplanade.
These two overflight operations in the Paris skies are therefore scheduled for this April 24, starting with a first flight expected to take place in the 7th arrondissement between 3.15pm and 3.50pm. This will involve a surprising drop of 15 parachutists over the esplanade des Invalides.
For the second operation, the Préfecture de police de Paris indicates that another aerobatic plane will follow a precise itinerary, first flying over the Porte de Vanves, then the Invalides, the Grand Palais, theArc de Triomphe and finally the Porte Maillot. This second operation should take place this Wednesday at around 6.15pm.
In order to secure the parachutists' landing zone around the esplanade des Invalides, the Préfecture de Paris has issued a decree banning traffic of " all types of vehicles " on April 24, 2024 between 3.15pm and 3.50pm, on several sections of road in the 7th arrondissement:
So why are these two aerobatic aircraft flying over the capital this Wednesday? As the Préfecture de police de Paris explains in its press release, this overflight is taking place on the occasion of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Flag Tour. The operation has, moreover, been " requested by the French Air Force's Defense and Air Operations Command ".
