Chinese New Year - Lunar: free dragon dance and calligraphy workshop at la Samaritaine

The Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, takes over La Samaritaine on Saturday February 10, 2024. Let yourself be carried away by the traditional dragon dance that will parade in front of and through the floors of the department store, and discover the art of calligraphy during free workshops with calligrapher Jianfei. Come and enjoy this unique day with family and friends under the sign of the Dragon!

This year's Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, takes place on February 10, 2024! In Paris, a whole host of events are in the works, from traditional dragon parades to festive Asian menus, workshops and exhibitions. For its part, La Samaritaine is joining in the celebrations, getting ready to set theYear of the Dragon alight this Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Embark on an ultra-stylish cultural experience with the famous dragon dance, punctuating your shopping day in the department store at 11.30am, 2.30pm and 4pm. Starting at the Pont-Neuf, the dance unfolds all the way to Place de la Monnaie, then invades the store, culminating in a grand finale on the 5th floor under the glass roof.

In addition to this magical ballet, la Samaritaine will be unveiling the art of calligraphy at a free workshop open to all (no appointment necessary), from 2pm to 7pm. Guided by Jianfei, calligrapher and member of the Young Calligraphers Association of China, discover a unique typography combining Mi Fu and Shoujin styles. The artist will show you how to handle the pen with delicacy and vigor. As a bonus, you'll leave with your name calligraphed in Chinese, or a Samaritaine shopping bag featuring the word "happiness" in Chinese.
