The program for Nuit des Musées 2024 at the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire de Melun

  • The class, the work: World tour of the collections
    Saturday, May 18, 3:30 p.m.

In line with the class's "Around the World" educational project, the museum offered multicultural artistic discoveries throughout the school year, focusing on works by ancient artists from the museum's collections and contemporary artists from or inspired by the five continents.

For the first visit to the museum in September, guided tours of the city's historical trail and the exhibition Melun, mon paysage des bords de Seine, combined with accompanying booklets, developed the theme of the landscape from its city - on the European continent - and made the link to the world and travel.
Loans of works from the school art library illustrated the successive discovery of Asia, America and Oceania.
A museum mediator led two practical art workshops in class around the contemporary works of Sacha Chimkevitch on American Jazz and Dana Roman inspired by Aboriginal art. A workshop on Chinese signs took place at the museum, in partnership with the media library.
The students' written productions (on visit booklets, greeting cards with Chinese signs, cards for the restitution on May 18) and artistic productions (painting, mixed media) will be exhibited on May 18 at the museum, where families are invited to attend.
