The program for Nuit des Musées at the Palais de Tokyo

  • Signal, Mohamed Bourouissa
    Saturday, May 18, 6:00 p.m.

This first retrospective in a national institution is an opportunity to unfold Mohamed Bourouissa's work, from his most recent productions to his beginnings, including creations by artist friends. As the earth is narrow to him, the exhibition brings together several geographies, from the artist's hometown of Blida, where psychiatrist and writer Frantz Fanon developed an analysis of mental alienation at the heart of colonial domination, to Gennevilliers, where the artist lives and is very active locally, via Philadelphia and its community of black cowboys to the skies over Gaza.

  • Dislocations, Group exhibition
    Saturday, May 18, 6:00 p.m.

The exhibition brings together fifteen artists of different generations and origins (Afghanistan, France, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Myanmar, Palestine, Syria, Ukraine), whose work is marked by the experience of exile, of being torn between here and elsewhere, between past and present. Their practices combine ancestral know-how and contemporary technologies, humble gestures and poor materials. The aim is to pay homage to the vital necessity and intensity of artistic creation through fragmented narratives crossing displacement, imprisonment and war, but also resilience and reparation.

  • Passé inquiet/Past Disquiet, Museums, exile and solidarity
    Saturday, May 18, 6:00 p.m.

This documentary exhibition recounts stories of artists' involvement and four cases of museums in solidarity with the international anti-imperialist movement from 1960-1980. The fruit of research by researchers and curators Kristine Khouri and Rasha Salti, it takes as its starting point the forgotten stories of transcontinental "museums in exile" or "museums in solidarity", often conceived as traveling exhibitions, which embodied artists' support for people's struggles for emancipation, notably in Palestine, Nicaragua, Chile and South Africa.

  • Touching the senseless, Group exhibition
    Saturday, May 18, 6:00 p.m.

Institutional psychotherapy" is a psychiatric practice that began in the mid-20th century, based on the premise that to treat patients, you must first treat the hospital. In other words, never isolate the mental disorder from its social and institutional context. Inspired by these revolutionary psychiatric and human experiments, which rely on the collective and on artistic creation, this exhibition looks at different ways of transforming places of isolation into places of protection, into refuges against the violence of society.

Do you have a question about the works? Need to express a feeling or share a point of view? Come and meet our team at the Mediation Office, in the hall of the Palais de Tokyo, from 6pm to 11pm!

  • Mini-mediators" project
    Saturday, May 18, 6:30 p.m.

The Palais de Tokyo carried out an Artistic and Cultural Education project with the 4th year CHAAP class (classes à horaires aménagés en Arts Plastiques) from collège Guy Moquet in Gennevilliers, entitled Mini Médiateur-ices. Over the course of 3 working sessions, the students discovered the Palais de Tokyo, the work of Mohamed Bourouissa in his "Signal" exhibition, and the profession of cultural mediator. They were invited to choose a work from the exhibition and determine how they would like to share it with the public.
During European Museum Night, you'll find these budding mediators in the "Signal" exhibition from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Don't hesitate to come and meet them!

  • Guided tour of "Toucher l'insensé, Collective exhibition".
    Saturday, May 18, 7:00 pm

A visit to the exhibition in the company of one of our cultural mediators for an initial insight into its content.
