In a symphony of light and innovation, Nuit Blanche 2023 is set to set the city of Paris ablaze with its dazzling cultural beauty. A truly nocturnal artistic experience, this edition promises a dreamlike journey through contemporary art on June 3, 2023, capturing the very essence of the City of Light. This annual event, which attracts millions of visitors from all over the world, transforms urban space into an ephemeral museum, defying the darkness with stunning artistic performances, interactive installations and open-air exhibitions. Nuit Blanche is not just an event, it's a celebration of the senses, an ode to art.
Rooted in Parisian medical history, theHôpital National des 15-20 is the setting for this event. Founded in the 17th century, this hospital specializing in ophthalmology is not only a medical landmark, but also a veritable architectural treasure trove. Its history, marked by significant advances in the field of visual health, is a source of inspiration for many artists who, for the Nuit Blanche, will bring its centuries-old walls to life through their creativity.
A place, synonymous with light and vision, that perfectly embodies the spirit of this event. The masterful alignment of art and science, the fusion of past and present, will make your visit a unique experience. Discover the innovative art installations that breathe new life into this historic space, creating a fascinating dialogue between heritage and contemporary art. Nuit Blanche at the15-20 National Hospital is an invitation to see the world from a new angle, to experience the emotion of art in the heart of an emblematic place. Don't miss this unique opportunity at Nuit Blanche 2023 in Paris!
Starting with a "virgin" clay bust (without facial attributes) pre-modeled in fresh clay, participants are invited by ceramic artist Agathe Brahami-Ferron to sculpt a face blindfolded. They can't see what they're doing, and sculpt by touch. The blindfold is not removed, and the result is only revealed to everyone once all the sculptures have been completed, after 30min. Each participant leaves with a Polaroid of his or her creation. The creative workshop will be followed by a discussion between participants and members of theValentin Haüy association. The association will be present to raise awareness of the challenges of visual impairment, with fun and educational workshops open to all: virtual reality headsets simulating vision according to different visual handicaps, and tactile discoveries of classic works of art designed for the visually impaired. Prior registration required by e-mail to dir@15-20.fr.
Just past the entrance to the15-20 National Hospital, the spectator is greeted by lights and lively music that make colorful sculptures scattered across the grassy median glow. As we approach, the sculptures, which seemed to be nothing more than motley shapes, come together in our field of vision to form... a giant 3D anamorphic eye! The colorful sculptures, created by visual artist Arnaud Liard, actually form the periphery of the iris and pupil. A "slit lamp" (an ophthalmological medical instrument) is installed nearby, and the images are filmed and transmitted to a screen in the background of this vast sculpture. Each viewer can bring their own eye close enough for it to be retransmitted live within the sculpture. The sculpture then becomes fully participatory, showing hundreds of different eyes of the public on a giant screen within a work of art. Experience accompanied by a DJ set fromDJ Apolith from 6 p.m. to midnight.
