François Descraques, creator of the sci-fi comedy web series "Le Visiteur du Futur", is adapting his series into a film. Most of the series cast returns, with two newcomers, Arnaud Ducret and Enya Baroux. In cinemas on September 7, 2022.

It's a project that fans have been anticipating for years. The web series Le Visiteur du Futur has been turned into a movie, scheduled for release on September 7, 2022. Still with François Descraques behind the camera, the vast majority of the cast returns, with Florent Dorin in the role of the cult time traveler, of course, but also Raphaël Descraques, Slimane-Baptiste Berhoun, Matthieu Poggi, Ludovik, Simon Astier and many others. New characters also make their appearance, played by Arnaud Ducret and Enya Baroux.

In 2009, Le Visiteur du Futur, a web series created, written and directed by François Descraques, hit YouTube. Initially made with three bits of string, its remarkable writing skills attracted producers, who helped professionalize it. The series eventually ran for 4 seasons, ending in 2014. Since then, she has continued in other media (novels and comic strips).

Synopsis:

2555. In a devastated future, the apocalypse threatens Earth. The last hope lies with a man capable of time travel. His mission: to return to the past and change the course of events. But the Time Brigade, a time police force, hunts him down in every era. So begins a race against time for the Visiteur du Futur(Florent Dorin)...

Our review:

Even though the days of amateur productions are long gone, director François Descraques takes great pleasure in returning to Le Visiteur du Futur, thepivotal work ofhis entire career. With this film, he achieves a double feat: transposing a French web-series to the cinema for the first time, but also making a true special effects science-fiction film in France, a genre that our producers are not particularly fond of, due to its lack of success.

That's why it's so important to support this kind of feature film. Science fiction, especially when it comes from the Internet, is difficult to produce, and a success for Le Visiteur du Futur would legitimize the genre. But, of course, that's not the only reason we recommend the film. It's a great success! Never cheap despite its not-so-large budget, the film makes the most of its strengths and weaknesses. Generous in the extreme, you can feel the care given to every detail of the film, which impresses as much as it makes you laugh. The filmmaker's great talent for dialogue, which was one of the great qualities of the series (and of all his other works), is once again evident.

In fact, you don't even need to have seen the series to understand what's at stake in the film. As in all good transmedia universes, each part of the universe is independent and complementary, so the film stands on its own. The new characters, played by Arnaud Ducret and Enya Baroux, are introduced at the same time as the neophyte viewer, and provide a good introduction to the universe. However, only those who have seen the series, read the novel (La Meute, where the character of Belette, played by Assa Sylla, is introduced) and the manga (La Brigade Temporelle, where the character of Louise, played by Audrey Pirault, is introduced) will have all the keys to understanding.
