Here's some good news for Game of Thrones fans! Warner Bros. Discovery announced, on Wednesday April 12, 2023, the launch of its new streaming platform, Max, scheduled for May 23 in the United States. Among the most eagerly awaited programs are a series adapted fromHarry Potter and a new Game of Thrones prequel entitled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. This spin-off will take place a hundred years before the events of the original series, and will arrive on screens following the success of the House of the Dragon prequel, launched in summer 2022.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is based on the novel Tales of Dunk & Egg, which recounts the adventures of Ser Duncan the Great, nicknamed Dunk, and the young Aegon Targaryen, called the Egg, his squire. George R. R. Martin, creator of the Iron Throne saga, will take on the roles of writer and executive producer for this new series, while continuing to work on the final volumes of his celebrated literary saga.

This prequel is set chronologically between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, plunging fans into a universe that is as yet unknown. For the moment, no information has been released as to the number of seasons planned, or whether this series will take the form of a mini-series. In the meantime, fans of the Westeros universe will be able to watch the first season of House of the Dragon and the entire Game of Thrones on Amazon Prime Video, thanks to the Warner Pass subscription.
