Trailer for Pikmin 4 on Nintendo Switch:

An application mentioned at a previous Nintendo Direct in February 2023, and awaited by fans for seven years, since it was officially announced by Shigeru Miyamoto in an interview for Famitsu in 2015, as our colleagues at jeuxvideo.com explain.

A trailer that reveals more about the gameplay. So, we'll be able to control new Pikmin, including a fluorescent Pikmin at night.

As for the rest of the gameplay, it shouldn't change too much from previous opuses, if the latest trailer is to be believed, the aim being to collect as many Pikmin as possible and use their specific skills to progress across the map and return home aboard your ship. While we're waiting for its release, you can dive back into Pikmin 3 or Pikmin Bloom, on mobile... To your controllers!

Our review of Pikmin 4 :

So, how does Pikmin 4 fare on Nintendo Switch? Using the same codes as Pikmin 3 as a whole, as well as gameplay simplified for Nintendo Switch, the game could have quickly become redundant... But Nintendo has largely reworked the gameplay and introduced a whole host of new features, bringing a welcome touch of freshness.

Starting with new Pikmin! These include Ice Pikmin, which can freeze enemies or bodies of water, as well as Shiny Pikmin, used in night games and caves. Night games are another new feature of the opus, offering a totally different gameplay from the classic progression on the various maps, akin to "Tower Defense". Shorter games, but essential to progress in the adventure.

We continue with the caves, also new to Nintendo's software. More precisely, these are a kind of dungeon, where time flows differently from the surface, allowing you to extend the time spent on a map. Added to this is Otchin, a dog that the player can control, and mechanics that play on all the new boards, all of which make for a totally innovative and enjoyable experience for neophytes and regulars alike.

Otherwise, the principle remains the same: collect Pikmin to progress and save Olimar, your expedition companion. We also appreciate the possibility of customizing your avatar, a first in the franchise!

In short, Pikmin 4 is a great success on almost every level, and probably the game of the summer you need to get your hands on right away! On your JoyCons!
