Want to discover the creations of tomorrow? Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysées presents a selection of talents playing with codes to innovate and propose new versions of fashion, more responsible, more sustainable and just as beautiful, with a method of choice:upcycling. This method of creating something new from something existing, whether it's reworking a garment or using fabrics lying dormant in the warehouses of the greatest luxury houses, could well be your next fashion crush.
If you're looking for the perfect piece or pieces to complete your wardrobe, Waste will be hosting a pop-up from April 9 to 29 on the second floor of the store. This young French brand produces its limited-edition pieces from dormant stocks from leading luxury houses. It creates quality clothing and accessories that last a lifetime, to be worn and passed on to the next generation.
During Le Nouveau Cool, Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysées will be offering a veritable tour d'horizon of circular design. From April 19 to June 24, the department store will host a pop-up by French upcycling marketplace Reiner, which has specially selected more than ten brands for the occasion to satisfy all tastes: Maitrepierre, Studio Clandestin, La Fameuse, Marine Henrion, Tricot, Annie Jeans, Kiska Lab, Cordiz, Kabas, Viron, Curvy World Studio and Valentine Witmeur Lab.
And so that department stores once again rhyme with generosity, Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysées and Reiner are organizing a meeting with the young designer everyone's been snapping up, Alphonse Maitrepierre. On Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m., attend a free discussion between the designer and one of Reiner's co-founders on the theme of upcycling as a new creative process. To register, click here
Upcycling opens up a host of new avenues of thought, and one of them is offered by the unmissable contemporary art museum, Palais de Tokyo, which is exclusively presenting its capsule collection, the result of a long process of reflection around its concept of "institutional permaculture". Echoing the principle of biodiversity at the heart of permaculture thinking, this collection comprising a t-shirt, sweatshirt and cap was designed in collaboration with Pangaia, whose innovative technical know-how enabled the creation of pieces in upcycled, organic and plant-based materials based on algae and mushrooms.
Available at Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysées from April 9 to 29, this collection also aims to illustrate the concept of "institutional permaculture", a work ethic that infuses its spirit into all the activities of the Palais de Tokyo, so that all trades - building, production, etc. - work and think ecologically about the business. - work and think ecologically about artistic activity.
