After La Cigale and Les Folie Bergère, the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, theOlympia, the Grand Rex and the Philharmonie de Paris, Rufus Wainwright is taking over a new venue in Paris in 2024, and not just any venue. To present the world premiere of"Dream Requiem", the Canadian-American singer-songwriter has chosen to take over theAuditorium de Radio France for a one-off, not-to-be-missed show on Friday June 14, 2024.
Described as " the amalgam of two musical and creative ideas, which had been developing side by side for a long time, and which were brought together during the singular dramatic experience of the Covid-19 pandemic that brought the world to a standstill ", this"Dream Requiem" creation once again demonstrates Rufus Wainwright 's fascination with the Requiem form. This passion is not new to the artist. Over the course of his career, the Canadian-American singer and musician has not hesitated to incorporate opera into his pop music. He has even written two operas,"Prima Donna" and"Hadrian".
For"Dream Requiem", based on a text by Lord Byron and the Requiem Mass, and offered in Paris as a world premiere at the Maison de la Radio, Rufus Wainwright will be well surrounded. He will be accompanied by soprano Anna Prohaska, the Maîtrise de Radio France, the Chœur de Radio France and the Orchestre Philharmonie de Radio France, conducted by Mikko Franck.
