Going faster and faster, doing more and more, seeing more and more people... What if we took the time to stop for a moment, and enjoy the present moment, to rest, to admire our surroundings, to have fun, to dream? ? This is the theme of Maïf Social Club's new free exhibition, running from September 30, 2023 to February 24, 2024.
This exhibition, entitled Le temps qu'il nous faut, offers us a stolen moment in the whirlwind of everyday life, a parenthesis to escape and feed our minds and imaginations with color, humor and beauty.
Twelve contemporary artists have created sculptures, installations, visual, textile and auditory works around the question of time and the paradoxes it brings. The grains of the hourglass always flow at the same speed. Yet we'd often like to slow them down, or speed them up, hold them back, go back in time, or jump a few days into the future... We'd like to go faster, to stop wasting time, while at the same time fleeing those signs of old age which show that time has indeed passed us by.
The exhibition looks at this ambiguous, love-hate relationship between man and time. The artists show the link between philosophy, the production and consumer society , work and health, the relationship with nature, and this issue of time that eludes us.
The Maïf Social Club invites us to slow down the pace, with works that only reveal themselves through patience.
