Un petit coin d'Italie has opened its doors in a discreet street in the capital's 10th arrondissement, not far from Gare du Nord. The name? Doppio! Doppio already has an establishment nestled in the capital's 18th arrondissement. Four years after its opening, the three partners behind the gourmet project have given birth, in June 2019, to a second Doppio restaurant. This time, the three partners have chosen to invest in the 10th arrondissement.
The decor is bright and modern, with velvet chairs and benches and a large mirror, and we're charmed by the beautiful counter behind which the bottles of spirits are displayed. Doppio 10 also boasts a fine cocktail menu featuring Italian classics such as the Spritz, Negroni and Martini Tonic, as well as mixology favourites such as the Pisco Sour, Moscow Mule and Daiquiri.
Like its big brother, Doppio 10 is all about Italian flavours, with fresh pasta, antipasti and Italian desserts.
What's on the menu? Generous, gourmet dishes that take you on a journey. The octopus salad comes to mind, finely sliced and perfectly cooked, accompanied by pommes grenailles, tomatoes, shallots, garlic, mesclun and parsley.
For antipasti, there are the classic burrata-based dishes (creamy, with truffles), as well as seafood antipasti such as Venetian-style razor clams with white wine.
As for the main courses, we fell in love with the artichoke and ricotta ravioli, with its roasted artichokes and delicious artichoke cream. A real treat!
Special mention also goes to Tagliatelle Pollo e Tartuffo, with roast chicken breast, black truffle cream, button mushrooms and parsley.
Doppio also offers the unmissable four-cheese pasta, Fusilli Norma, with its homemade tomato sauce, tomatoes, fried eggplant, mozzarella and basil. On the seaside, Spaghetti al Polpo, or Vongole with clams.
For risotto lovers, discover the classic Funghi risotto with mushrooms and white wine. Carnivores will love theMilanese escalope with breaded veal. And for a tasty mix of land and sea, opt for a skewer of Italian sausage and octopus!
And to finish on a sweet note, try the famous tiramisu or panna cotta. For something more original, we've chosen cheesecake. An explosion in the mouth guaranteed with this revisited dessert based on mascarpone, a crunchy speculoos cookie and an incredible lemon cream... a real success!
To accompany the dessert, Doppio offers a fine selection of wines from Piedmont, Puglia and Sicily. A particular favorite is Barbera d'Asti, carefully recommended by the restaurant manager.
In short, for a delicious trip to Italy, run to the new Parisian restaurant Doppio 10.

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
