Calling all foodies! Thierry Marx, alchemist of French gastronomy, has taken up the “fast casual” concept with his first bakery around the Saint-Augustin church. Opening Tuesday, June 14th, the bakery serves great viennoiseries, tasty sandwiches and delicious pastries, all day long!
On a small street in the Miromesnil/Saint-Augustin neighborhood in Paris, Thierry Marx is opening his first bakery in Paris this Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 after establishing his “Cuisine mode d’emploi(s)” free culinary and baking institute just three years ago.
Passionate about baking since he was young, Thierry Marx participated in the Compagnons du Devoir professional training program in 1978, and earned the CAP in ice cream/chocolate making and pastry cooking. He may be known around the world as a chef, with his Michelin starred restaurant Sur Mesure par Thierry Marx at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, but Marx has always loved baking. Now he’s bringing together his love for cuisine and baking, by launching his first bakery in the Saint Augustin neighborhood, at 51 rue Laborde (8th arrondissement.)
The bakery serves an assortment of seven breads, some of them made with organic flour (easy-to-digest rye, spelt, hazelnut, and rice flours), and traditional French viennoiseries and and pastries. The “fast and casual” style of the restaurant gives the public another way to access and explore the ever dynamic culinary world of Thierry Marx, serving food in the bakery or to go!
You'll be taken in by the heavenly aroma of Thierry Marx’s butter croissants (1.10€), brioches, lemon pies and viennoiseries (2€). For a morning treat, try the delicious puff pastry brioche with a cappuccino for just 2.50€. We also recommend the signature Tarte Maitre, pie with a macaron base and apple compote, for 20€!
The sandwiches are special “breadmakis,” rolled sandwiches made to order, including the El Tayeb with confit of vegetables (5.50€), the Saint-Germain melted ham and cheese ( 7.10€) or the Meatpacking sandwich, with pastrami and honey mustard ( 9.90€), all made right before your eyes!
Chef Marx chooses his products with care, filling his kitchen with responsibly and locally (less than 125 miles) farmed produce (he is a Michelin-starred chef, after all.) Butter from Normandy or Poitou Charentes, pork raised in hay, Gilles Vérot charcuterie - we’re on board with their organic options, and seasonal and local products!
