Once again this year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) return to Paris and the Île-de-France region for an eventful 40th edition. Every year, on the third weekend in September, this flagship event brightens up the holiday season for Parisians. Tourists and locals alike are invited to take over the most beautiful treasures of our heritage to enjoy a special program. Museums, monuments, castles, churches, hospitals, ministries, embassies and much more - many places play their part every year. On the menu: guided or self-guided tours, workshops for young and old, original events... and it's often all free! Perfect for exploring our heritage from every angle.
Schools are also in the spotlight. Yes, Parisian schools sometimes contain historical treasures and relics that you'd be hard pressed to discover outside of these special occasions. In the 6th arrondissement, you'll find a private school that may well surprise you. TheÉcole Alsacienne is known for its active pedagogy, and is spread over several buildings, including an eclectic brick and stone mansion. Want to find out more? Discover the program that awaits you for the Journées du Patrimoine 2023.
