The Marathon pour Tous (Marathon for All) is a much talked-about event, and for good reason: it's the first time in the history of the Olympic Games that an event is open to the general public. To take part in this exceptional event, you'll have to earn your race number - 42.195 km - and the conditions for obtaining it are, to say the least, selective.
Amateur athletes will be able to take the same route as the Paris 2024 Olympic marathon, with a 10km race also on offer. Both races will take place at night, on the evening of August 10, 2024, with the start from ParisCity Hall . In short, it's an exceptional race that dreams are made of, and bib numbers are in high demand: so Orange, who are organizing the race, are offering those who want to become a pacemaker on the Marathon pour Tous.
What is a pacemaker?
If you've ever followed a marathon (or half-marathon) live, you'll certainly have spotted the people carrying a flag with an indicated time. 3h30, 3h45, 4h, 4h30... The times correspond to the starting SAS for the biggest races, where the starts are delayed so that everyone can enjoy their race according to their own speed. Each pacemaker is selected according to the time he or she is expected to take to run a marathon or half-marathon: thanks to these people, amateur runners can find their bearings and know how long they can expect to finish their race.
However, to become a pacemaker for the Marathon pour Tous, you need to meet certain criteria: in order to join the team of pacemakers for this exceptional marathon, Orange takes the liberty of testing candidates in several races, such as the 10km des Champs Elysées, the Semi de Paris and the Paris Marathon. Applications are open from December 20, 2023, by filling in the associated form.
