This year, on the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Parvis de l'Hôtel de Ville is transformed into a huge Terrasse des Jeux, from July 14 to September 8. During these 51 days, the Terrasse des Jeux invites Parisians and visitors to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of the Games, with a rich and varied program.
To enliven the Terrasse des Jeux, the City of Paris is collaborating with local players from the capital and the Île-de-France region. This initiative aims to enrich the sporting and cultural offer while highlighting local skills and infrastructures, such as the Carreau du Temple, the Chambre des Métiers et de l'Artisanat, as well as sporting and cultural associations like Fier Play, the Ligue Île-de-France Rugby, Ancuisine, the Compagnie Break Dance Crew Paris, les Pétancoeurs, the Paris Université Club, Moove Toi, Pilates Booty, Si Si La Paillette, among others.
The program, designed to appeal to a wide audience, includes a variety of activities to suit all ages and needs. It includes a specially designed area for children, physical activities accessible to the disabled, and activities designed for senior citizens. In addition, a number of French and international athletes and ambassadors will be on hand to share and celebrate the spirit of the Games with the general public.
This new festive area has been designed to accommodate 2,500 people in its standard configuration, and may see its capacity increased to 6,000 visitors during the July 14 festivities, depending on the events programmed. The site is open to us free of charge, and is fully accessible to the disabled.
To enhance the experience, a raised terrace has been fitted out, offering a space for relaxation and dining with a breathtaking view of Paris landmarks, including sunsets over the Seine, booksellers and major monuments such as Notre-Dame-de-Paris.
Installation work will begin on July 1, 2024, and dismantling is scheduled to last until September 20, 2024.
Note that the Terrasse des Jeux aims to be responsible and sustainable. By offering predominantly local and organic catering, as well as diversified offerings including vegetarian and gluten-free options, the event ensures that everyone's dietary preferences are catered for. Shaded areas and the use of reusable materials, combined with a zero single-use plastic policy, reinforce this ecological commitment. In addition,work-integration programs and infrastructures adapted to all, such as Braille signage and velotyping, guarantee an inclusive experience.
In short, if you're looking for a fan zone to enjoy the Olympics, play sports and experience the magic of the Games, this is a central location not to be missed.
