Urban Pulse Uprising: French and Korean street dance meet at the Théâtre du Châtelet

The Korean Cultural Center welcomes two crack breaking teams for an unprecedented encounter: the French Pockemon Crew and the Koreans from 1MILLION, a famous dance studio founded in Seoul and renowned for its performances on social networks. On the program: a friendly battle in the presence of a DJ at the Théâtre du Châtelet!

To open this new cultural season, the Korean Cultural Center is joining forces with KOFICE (Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange), which organizes an annual cultural program called Korea Season to celebrate the rhythmic and spectacular movements of breaking, also known as hip-hop dance or breakdance!

So it's the perfect opportunity for two crack teams to meet: the French Pockemon Crew - a collective born in Lyon in the 1990s under the artistic direction of Riyad Fghani and a pioneer of breaking in France - and the Koreans from 1MILLION, a dance studio founded in Seoul in 2015, which has amassed 26 million subscribers on Youtube and over 1 million on Instagram since the hugely successful Street Woman Fighter show.

This Thursday, May 2, the two crews are invited to perform at the Théâtre du Châtelet for a dance performance that proudly celebrates artistic fusion and the colors of breaking.

Much more than a dance show, " Urban Pulse Uprising " is a genuine exploration of the wide repertoire of street dance to which breaking belongs, an invitation to break down boundaries and bring together different choreographic universes. An original creation combining multidimensional stage experience, exciting challenges and a celebration of bodily expression. The event is also highly symbolic: this year, this dance style, which originated in the USA in the 70s, has joined the Olympic program for the Paris Olympics.

An event produced in collaboration with Battle Pro's Rookie Pars, Dot Production and the Théâtre du Châtelet, with the support of the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
