The Barbès stage, located at 11 rue d'Oran in the 18th arrondissement, is inspired by New York comedy clubs. In an industrial yet uncluttered decor, you can attend a variety of stand-up sessions every week from Tuesday to Sunday.
Formerly known as the Barbès Comedy Club, La scène Barbès has been given a makeover to welcome comedy talent. You'll be able to choose your session from three stages: La scène ouverte, La nouvelle vague and La Barbès comedy night. The open stage takes place every Saturday at 4:30 p.m., and anyone can get up on stage and try to make the audience laugh. What if you were the next person to take the microphone?
La Barbès comedy night , on the other hand, is reserved for established comedians, with 5 comedians taking turns on stage. Each comedian already has his or her own show, and sometimes presents extracts from it. As the program is kept secret, it's not impossible that you'll bump into your favorite comedian...
La nouvelle vague offers a session with 6 comedians not known to the general public, but carefully selected by La scène Barbès. You might just catch a sneak preview of tomorrow's talent!
La scène Barbès is also a bar, with a small outdoor terrace and a pretty indoor room where you can sit and wait for the show. Cocktails (from 8 euros), beers (from 6 euros a pint) and soft drinks (from 3 euros) can also be served during the stand-up session. To accompany this, La scène Barbès, in collaboration with CODErak, offers fusion cuisine with Moroccan burgers and dishes to share.

Our verdict
We had the chance to try out La scène Barbès for a session of Barbès Comedy Night, and we loved it! Beyond the ambiance and the New York decor, which is very pleasant, we spent 1 hour laughing non-stop as the various talents took to the stage. The room is the perfect size, we're comfortably seated, and the comedians can interact with the audience easily, which made us laugh a lot. At the end of the session, you walk right out onto the street and can chat with the comedians you've just seen. The general atmosphere at the Scène Barbès is friendly and caring, and that's a good thing! A must-see comedy club in Paris's 18th arrondissement.
