Kiosques en Fête 2016, Musicians Take to the Bandstands in Paris: From April 15th to December 2016, numerous musical artists will be taking over the bandstands and outdoor pavilions of the city. You can enjoy any of the more than 800 free musical events!
Métamorphoses : Métamorphoses is the newest equestrian show under the dome at the Chantilly Castle’s Grandes Ecuries, showing from April 3rd to October 23rd, 2016.
The Palace of Versailles Puts on a Water Show in 2016 : Stroll through the groves and fountains of the royal gardens at the Palace of Versailles to celebrate its 350th anniversary! Every weekend from March 25th to October 30th, will be a musical water show with more than 55 fountains situated throughout the expansive gardens. It’s a spectacular event fit for royalty!
The Franglaises are back ! Back at Bobino, the Franglaises will amaze you with a very surprising show. During 3 months, until January 14th, 2017, the troupe will perform a French version of some of the most iconic songs of artists such as the Beatles, Mickael Jackson or even Katy Perry. If you are not bilingual, the lyrics of these Frenglish tracks will make you laugh for sure !
Pierrots de la Nuit Performances in the Streets of Paris: The Pierrot de la Nuit performances bring together art and society through creative art forms and expressions in the streets of Paris at night. The goal is simple: make less noise, and you can party longer and without having the neighbors shut down your favorite nightlife spot! Sounds nice, doesn’t it?
The 2016 edition of the The Festi’Val de Marne. The Festi’Val de Marne is back and invites you to discover its 2016 edition from September 29th to October 19th ! Artists such as Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine, Jeanne Cherhal, Youssoupha, Hyphen Hyphen, Mickey 3d, La Yegros or even Clarika and Alex Beaupain will be performing on stage during this event.
Art and Cultural Exhibitions:
Hergé.The Grand Palais looks back at Hergé’s wonderful artistic career with a great exhibition from September 28th 2016 to January 16th 2017. Hundreds of series of drawings of “the father of European comic books” will be exhibited during this event.
Olafur Eliasson in Versailles, Summer Contemporary Art Exhibition: Artist Olafur Elaisson’s annual contemporary art exhibition will be at the Versailles Palace this year, from June to November 2016. Eliasson is taking the reigns at the Versailles Estate and will be offering a brand-new way to look at this historic palace!
Ben. After 18 months of closing, the Musée Maillol finally re-opens its doors : for the very first exhibition in its restored rooms, the museum offers an innovative retrospective of Ben’s work from September 14th 2016 to January 15th 2017.
Fashion Collection at the Musée Galliera: Paris fashion museum Musée Galliera will be presenting its collection in this remarkable exhibition, “l’Anatomie d’une Collection,” open from May 24th to October 23rd, 2016.
René Magritte. The Centre Pompidou spotlights René Magritte’s work in a wonderful exhibition from September 21th 2016 to January 23rd 2017. More than a hundred paintings will be displayed in the rooms of the Centre Pompidou, for an exhibition focused on the treachery of images.
Oscar Wilde. This year, the Petit Palais puts the stress on Oscar Wilde from September 28th 2016 to January 15th 2017. The great Irish writer, Parisian by heart, is also honoured at the Musée de l’Histoire de Paris in a huge exhibition. Don’t miss it !
Homme Blanc/Homme Noir (White Man/Black Man) at the Musée de Quai Branly: The Musée de Quai Branly is showing an important exhibition on the representations of Western man in African art in the 20th century. “Homme Blanc/Homme Noir” is open from June 16th to October 9th, 2016.
A President in the King’s Palace, Charles De Gaulle at the Trianon, Exhibition in Versailles: From June 18th to November 9th, 2016, the Palace of Versailles invites visitors to rediscover the Trianon-sous-Bois palace, which in 1963 became the president’s personal residence, during the De Gaulle era. After visiting this iconic president’s office, which has been historically recreated for the event, visitors can also see how the Grand Trianon is used to host chiefs of state during official visits.
“Un Art Pauvre,” (A Poor Art) Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou: One of the latest exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou explores what is called “poor” art, from the 1960’s until today. The exhibition, titled “Un Art Pauvre” (A Poor Art) features the art, music, architecture and theater that drew our attention to the smallest things, using recycled materials as a medium.
Bercy by Robert Doisneau at Bercy Village: This summer, Bercy Village is traveling through time, bringing us to to Bercy Village in the 1970s, immortalized by Robert Doisneau. 30 photographs in black and white reveal moving portraits of factory workers at Bercy, the wine storehouses and wine barrels of Parisian wines!
Visit the Tour Saint-Jacques and Its Stunning View: The mystical Tour Saint Jacques, just steps away from the Hôtel de Ville in the city’s center, is opening from May 20th to September 25th, 2016 to share its secrets with the public. Last year, more than 5000 visitors were able to see all 580 sqft and 300s steps of this medieval church tower with a guided tour!
Rembrandt intime.The Musée Jacquemart-André launches a nice exhibition putting the stress on Rembrandt from September 16th to January 23rd 2017. Throughout 3 major oeuvres, the museum will retrace the creative process of one of the biggest painters in the history of art, by exploring his evolution and describing his career.
The Trip. The Galerie Polka will showcase the work of Matt Henry, an English photographer born in 1978. The exhibition will put the main focus on the American culture of the 60’s and 70’s. To see until October 29th 2016.
Noir Éclair. For the very first time, the Château de Vincennes will showcase an exhibition of contemporary art : ZEVS will be presenting his street art project, called Noir Éclair, from September 16th 2016 to January 29th 2017.
Daniel Buren Exhibition at the Fondation Vuitton: Starting May 11th, 2016, a monumental installation by artist Daniel Buren is at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. In dialogue with this iconic new museum by architect Frank Gehry, this installation, called the “Observatory of Light,” is an ambitious and extensive work that’s worth checking out!
Bars and Restaurants:
Patio at the Saint James Paris: This Summer, the beautiful garden patio at the Saint James Paris will become a chic open-air bar. Come bask in the sun and sip on cocktails or try their tasty menu items from June to the end of September, 2016.
New Perchoir Opening at Gare de l’Est: Yes, Parisians love their rooftop bars. The Perchoir rooftop bars at Menilmontant and BHV Marais were such a hit that now they’re getting ready for their third address in the capital, opening June 21st, 2016 on the roof of the Gare de l’Est train station!
Plaza Havana: This summer, Café A is celebrating Cuban style with Plaza Havana, from June 15th to September 30th, 2016.
Gare des Mines Station, A New Multicultural Site : If you’re in the Paris region from May 19th to October 23rd, 2016, be sure to check out this new spot for “exhibitions, community building and parties.” It’s a temporary cultural center called “La Station Gare des Mines,” and they’ve planned a variety of events that highlight both emerging visual artists and musical performance.
Le Perchoir Marais : After a wonderful winter season, the Perchoir Marais is back until October 1st 2016, on the terrace of the BHV Marais. As soon as the store opens, you can enjoy cocktails and grab a bite to eat in this special spot with an exceptional view of the city. And this summer, the Perchoir Marais will have a new jungle theme!
La Démesure : There’s a new trendy spot in Paris, with a covered terrace, cocktail bar, karaoke, club and even food made to order! Come check out La Démesure!
Le Flow: “Le Flow” is a brand new floating venue in town on the Left Bank at the Berges de Seine (Invalides). An all-in-one restaurant, bar, and concert hall, this floating venue even has a summertime beach space!
Résistance : With cocktail bars popping up in Paris left and right today, it’s hard for new cocktail bar entrepreneurs to stand out and make a name for themselves.
