For the Nuit Blanche 2017, the Philharmonie and the Cité de la Musique host four nonstandard concerts all through the night and offer a special visit of the Cité de la Musique museum collections, filled with concerts, mini-conferences and in a special light staging focused on a theme “Shadows and Light” and the whole from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
On Saturday October 7, 2017, the Philharmonie celebrates its excellent acoustics – making you feel like you’re next to the musicians wherever you are seated in the room – by remaining open all through the White Night.
Four concerts will be performed:
- In the amphitheater of the Cité de la Musique: the Night of the Quartet gives pride of place to four string quartets and piano trios from 8:30 p.m. to dawn.
- In the Pierre Boulez room of the Philharmonie: Minimalist Night with James McVinnie, Lubomyr Melnyk and Bruce Brubaker play Philip Glass, Terry Riley and John Cage from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- In the concert room of the Cité de la Musique: One Night, One life, a concert dedicated to Pierre Henry from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
- In the Studio of the Philharmonie: A Night in A, “Din”, nine hours of a nonstop sound unison around the music note A, from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Moreover, the Cité de la Musique museum tunes up with the White Night and offers concerts and short conferences in a special light setting about “Darkness and light” from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Here is one of the boldest programming of this White Night 2017: as soon as sun rises, we’ll go visit all the areas of the Cité de la Musique and the Philharmonie, motivated for a unique musical journey. Maybe we’ll fall asleep at 3 a.m. on our seat to slowly wake up at 6 a.m., hearing the piano dulling and stopping.
What a wonder!
